Test set control allows you to change many of the settings in the test set via the Interactive Functional Test Software. This topic describes how to use the Test Set Control tab when you are doing interactive testing.
Most of the test set parameters that you can control are accessed in the Test set settings list. Related parameters are grouped together and may be in a different menu structure than in the test set.
Firstly, decide whether you want to change parameters for the Active Cell or Neighbor Cell, then select the appropriate tab.
Select the format for the parameters you wish to change. The Test set settings list is specific to the Current format setting.
Set the SCPI timeout value ().
Expand the menu structure for the currently selected format to find the parameter you wish to configure.
If you are unsure of which menu the parameter you are looking for is located, click the Find icon (). This will allow you to search for all or part of the parameter name. Any menu items that have parameters that match the search criteria are highlighted with blue font and underlined.
Not all the settings may be in the test set settings. However, the Interactive Functional Test Software's flexibility allows you to add new settings to the list.
You can also use the SCPI Pass-Through node to set parameters that are not yet available in other nodes of the Test Set Control tab. The SCPI Pass-Through node allows you to enter any of the test set's GPIB commands into the SCPI commands window.
To see the instrument start-up information for the Current format, click the Instrument startup information from xml file icon (). Clicking this icon displays the LAs supported by the Interactive Functional Test Software and the Startup SCPI settings in the right hand side window of the Test Set Control tab.
LAs supported - This contains a prioritized list of all the test set Lab Application (LA) names and revisions that the Interactive Functional Test Software will switch to (if Use Current LA is not checked).
Startup SCPI settings - This contains a list of SCPI commands that are associated with the Current format and are sent to the test set via GPIB whenever the Interactive Functional Test Software is opened or the Current DUT or Current format is changed.
To change either of the above settings or add settings that are not yet available in the Interactive Functional Test Software, see How to Customize Settings.
You can return the test set to the defaults used for each parameter in the current format by clicking the Restore Defaults.
To find other parameters, it may be easiest to navigate to it by collapsing all menus back to their root level (). and repeating steps 2 through 4.
The Data Throughput Monitor settings are available in the Throughput Monitor Control tab and therefore are not duplicated here.
If a setting is changed on the test set, it is not updated in the Interactive Functional Test Software.
If the parameter you are looking for is not yet available via the Test Set Control tab, it is possible to add a parameter by configuring the instrument settings XML file for the applicable format. For more information, see To customize test set startup settings (for a particular format).
Changes to test set parameters in the Interactive Functional Test Software do not occur until you right-click and select send now.
The right-click menu contains also contains Help (opens the 8960 online user's guide where you can find help on any 8960 parameter), Properties (displays the properties for the specific parameter), and Restore Defaults (restores all values to their default).
