FTAP Rate

FTAP Rate

Last updated: November 15, 2006

FTAP Rate determines the data rate (and number of slots) for transmitting the forward test packets when the test set is configured to TAP (0x0003) (see Test Application Configuration ) in Active Cell operating mode and the DRC Value Fixed Mode Attribute is set to On. In this case, the test set tells the access terminal to always request the DRC value that corresponds to the current FTAP Rate setting. The test set then uses the DRC value requested by the access terminal to set its forward rate.

FTAP Rate can be changed at any time. The following table shows the configuration of the forward traffic packet at each data rate for subtype 0 physical layer. Note that the actual number of slots transmitted by the test set for each data rate may be less depending upon the Max Forward Packet Duration .

FTAP Data Rates
FTAP Data Rate (kbps) Slots per Physical Packet Modulation Format DRC Value
38.4 16 QPSK 0x1
76.8 8 QPSK 0x2
153.6 4 QPSK 0x3
307.2 2 QPSK 0x4
307.2 4 QPSK 0x5
614.4 1 QPSK 0x6
614.4 2 QPSK 0x7
921.6 2 8-PSK 0x8
1228.8 1 QPSK 0x9
1228.8 2 16-QAM 0xA
1843.2 1 8-PSK 0xB
2457.6 1 16-QAM 0xC

The test set uses the DRC value requested by the access terminal to set its forward rate. The DRC value requested by the access terminal is controlled either by the test set or determined by the access terminal according to the current link conditions. For details, see DRC Value Fixed Mode Attribute .
