About I/O Connections

To start the I/O connections program, click Start > Keysight 89600 Software <ReleaseVersion> > VSA IO Connections.

Keysight 89600 I/O Connections is a software utility that helps to quickly connect and configure certain types of LAN-connected instruments to the 89600 VSA software. The Keysight 89600 I/O Connections software is installed with the 89600 VSA software.

The Keysight 89600 I/O Connections utility is only used to connect certain types of hardware (shown in the Add Instrument dialog) to the 89600 VSA software. The connection of other supported hardware, such as PSAs and Oscilloscopes, is configured using the Connection Expert. Refer to the Configuring IO Interfaces chapter in the 89600 Software Installation Guide for information on the Connection Expert.

Explorer Pane

The I/O Connections explorer pane will appear when the I/O Connections utility is started. The 89600 I/O Connections explorer pane is where Logic Analyzers are added to your test system or deleted from your test system. The explorer pane lists the LAN-connected Logic Analyzers currently configured in your test system, along with status indicator icons to indicate the status of each device. This information reflects the status of the test system as of the last time the Keysight 89600 I/O Connection utility scanned the test system and refreshed the display.

The following tasks can be done from the Explorer Pane:

Refresh All

When Refresh All is clicked, 89600 I/O Connections scans your test system and updates the explorer pane to show the status of each instrument in your test system that was configured using 89600 I/O Connections.

The 89600 I/O Connections utility can be used to Refresh All in any of the following ways.

Refresh This Instrument

To only refresh a selected instrument, right-click the instrument in the explorer pane and then select Refresh This Instrument. The 89600 I/O Connections will only update the status of the instrument selected and will ignore any other instruments.

Undo

Click Undo to reverse a previous action, such as deleting an instrument.

Change Properties

Open the I/O Connections Configurable Properties dialog box in one of the following ways.

Make the configurable properties changes and click OK.

Ignore

Use Ignore to exclude the instrument from I/O Connection scans. The information for the instrument will not be updated when I/O Connection refreshes the test system. When an instrument is ignored, I/O Connection will not check for this instrument address or verify that the instrument is physically present.

The 89600 I/O Connections utility can be used to ignore the instrument in any of the following ways.

The Ignore selection is not available if the status indicator icon shows that the instrument is already being ignored.

Stop Ignoring

Use Stop Ignoring to include the instrument in I/O Connection scans. The information for the instrument will be updated when I/O Connection refreshes the test system. I/O Connection will check for this instrument address and verify that the instrument is physically present.

The 89600 I/O Connections utility can be used to stop ignoring the instrument in any of the following ways.

The Stop Ignoring selection is only available if the status indicator icon shows that the instrument is currently being ignored.

Add Instrument

The 89600 I/O Connections utility can be used to add an instrument in any of the following ways.

When the following Add Instrument Dialog Box appears, select Keysight Logic Analyzer and click OK.

The remaining steps necessary to add an instrument are done in the Add LAN Instrument I/O Connections Configurable Properties Dialog Box.

Delete Instrument

Click the instrument to delete.

The 89600 I/O Connections utility can be used to delete the instrument in any of the following ways.

When an instrument is deleted, 89600 I/O Connections removes the instrument from the I/O configuration. The instrument is no longer displayed in the explorer pane but the instrument is not physically disconnected nor disabled. Click Undo to put the deleted instrument back into the I/O configuration.
