FlexPLL

This help system documents Keysight's FlexPLL application. To remotely control FlexPLL, refer to the FlexPLL Programmer's Guide help. FlexPLL characterizes the jitter response of a Device Under Test's PLL loop. The following swept-jitter frequency plots are displayed on a common graph:

  • JTF (Jitter Transfer Function) plot. JTF is the amount of jitter at the DUT's output compared to the jitter at the DUT's input.
  • OJTF (Observed Jitter Transfer Function) plot.
  • JTF plot modeled
  • OJTF plot modeled.

Because FlexPLL acquires a sequence of data points at incremental jitter frequencies, FlexPLL requires a supported jitter source and a jitter receiver. Before making any measurements, a quick Response Calibration is performed for test setup flatness and repeatability that takes into account both the jitter source and jitter receiver.

To start FlexPLL

Start the FlexPLL application using one of two methods:

  • From the Windows Start menu entry. (target is Keysight.FlexPLL.exe)
  • Click FlexDCA's Apps > FlexPLL menu command. This method starts FlexPLL and automatically connects FlexDCA as the remote receiver in FlexPLL's Receiver Setup dialog.

FlexPLL supports PCI Express PLL generations 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0.

In the screen shots in this help, FlexPLL is configured with the light color theme rather that the dark (default) theme. The light color theme works well for presentations and documentation.
