The Control and Measurement tabs provide single functions or groupings of measurements and settings.
The Instrument Control tab groups together Test Set connection and Autorange functions.
On each measurement tab you can configure specific measurement settings, initiate the measurement, and display the returned results.
Common to each measurement tab are the Init button and a Force Multi button with an adjacent numeric entry window. A single measurement is made at your configured values of frequency, amplitude range, triggering, and averaging when you click the Init button. By entering a value in the Force Multi field and clicking Force Multi you can perform the specified number of multiple measurements. Each new result over-writes the previous.
Both the OFDM and DSSS Standards Measurements tabs also have Force Once buttons. When a 'Demod' measurement is performed, many results are calculated from the captured burst. Data from this captured burst is re-used to display the results if you subsequently click Init on the associated 'Standards' tab. For example, the same data from an OFDM Demod measurement is used to calculate the results when you initiate an OFDM Standards measurement. This results in a reduction in measurement time.
If you want to capture and perform the measurement on a new burst click the Force Once button.
Initiating and reading results for each measurement using SCPI is achieved
by the use of the respective READ:<measurement>[?] or FETCh:<measurement>[?]
command, for example READ:CWFOffset?.
The OFDM Standards Measurements tab groups together the Center Frequency Leakage (CFL), Frequency Error, Spectral Flatness, and Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) tests for 802.11 a/g (OFDM) DUT transmitters.
The DSSS Standards Measurements tab groups together the Carrier Suppression, Frequency Error, and Error Vector Magnitude measurements for 802.11b (DSSS) DUT transmitters.
The OFDM Demod tab provides both control and measurement results from a single 802.11 a/g (OFDM) transmitted burst capture.
The DSSS Demod tab provides both control and measurement results from a single 802.11b (DSSS) transmitted burst capture.
The 11n Demod tab provides both control and measurement results from an 802.11n transmitted burst capture. Both channels can be captured with a single measurement.
The Format Independent Measurements tab groups DUT Average Transmitter Power and CW Frequency Offset.
The Power vs Time tab provides a graphical display of burst power vs. time.
The IQ Capture tab provides a graphical display of I and Q pairs over a length of samples.
The Gated Spectrum tab enables you to configure and display a spectrum analysis measurement of a bursted DUT transmitted signal.
The DSSS Power Ramp tab enables you to measure and display the up and down power ramps a bursted DSSS DUT transmitter.
The Spectral Mask tab enables you to configure and display the spectral mask measurement for 802.11 a/b/g/n DUT transmitters. Enabling the Fast Mask slightly reduces measurement accuracy but also reduces the time required for the measurement, with savings of up to 50% achievable.
