Enhanced Access Rate

This section is only applicable to the lab application and to a test application with the required feature license.

Enhanced Access Rate allows you to control the rate that the access terminal (AT) will use to transmit the Enhanced Access Channel MAC packets when the Session Application Type is set to the Test Application and the Current Access Channel MAC Subtype is Enhanced Access Channel MAC. When the Current Access Channel MAC Subtype is Default Access Channel MAC, the access rate is always fixed to 9.6 kbps.

In the Active Cell operating mode, when the Session Application Type is Test Application and the Current Access Channel MAC Subtype is Enhanced Access Channel MAC, the Enhanced Access Rate is included in the EnhancedAccessChannelRateMode attribute of the RETAP Parameter Assignment Message or RMCTAP Parameter Assignment Message sent to the AT. See Enhanced Test Application Protocol or Multi-carrier Test Application Protocol .

When the Enhanced Access Rate is configured for an ETAP or MCTAP connection, the AT is required to select the access channel rate based on the minimum of Enhanced Access Rate and Sector Access Max Rate. (Sector Access Max Rate is fixed to 38.4 kbps by the test set (see Fixed Settings ), so the enhanced access channel rate is always determined by the Enhanced Access Rate setting).

The Enhanced Access Rate can be changed at any time but only affects the access rate of the AT after an RETAP Parameter Assignment Message or RMCTAP Parameter Assignment Message has been successfully sent and until a session is re-negotiated for the next access. The access rate that the test set expects the AT to use for the current or next access is displayed on the Expected Enhanced Access Rate field on the Call Setup screen in the Application Configuration window when the Protocol Rel is set to A (1xEV-DO-A ) or B (1xEV-DO-B ), the Session Application Type is set to Test Application , and the Physical Layer Subtype is set to Subtype 2 or Subtype 3.
