IMPORTANT
If you are testing an access terminal with Qualcomm DMSS 5500 Release 3.1.50, you must verify that the test set is configured to the Test Application Protocol (TAP) (see Test Application Protocol ) and the Limited TAP is set to On . For access terminals with Qualcomm DMSS 5500 Release 3.1.50, when Test Application Protocol is set to FTAP, AT Directed Packets must not be greater than 50%, and RTAP Rate must be set to 9.6 kbps. Also, access probes sent by these access terminals are 3-4 dB below the expected value (see Under range occurs when testing access terminals with the Qualcomm DMSS 5500. ).

The test set supports the C.S0029 Test Application Specification (TAS) (see C.S0029 Test Application Specification Description (TAP/ETAP) ). The first commercial release of the Qualcomm 1xEV-DO access terminal chipset (DMSS 5500 Release 3.1.50, AA3150) has only limited support of the TAS functionality. The Limited TAP setting is provided to accommodate the limited TAS functionality of the first commercial release of the Qualcomm 1xEV-DO access terminal chipset.

When the test set is configured to the TAP (see Test Application Configuration ) in the Active Cell operating mode, the Limited TAP setting affects the test set behavior such as whether transmitting the forward test packets, what attributes are included in the FTAP Parameter Assignment Message and RTAP Parameter Assignment Message sent to the AT. For details, see Test Application Protocol . The Limited TAP being configured in the test set is displayed on the Call Setup screen in the Application Configuration window.
