When the test set is configured to the Multi-carrier Test Application Protocol (MCTAP) (see
Test Application Configuration
) and a data connection is established (
Connected State
) in the Active Cell operating mode, the
Multi-carrier Test Application Protocol
setting determines how the Multi-carrier Test Application Protocol (MCTAP) is configured.
The RMCTAP configures the MCTAP (0x000E) for testing of the AT's transmitter while the FMCTAP configures the MCTAP (0x000E) for testing of the AT's receiver. See C.S0029 Test Application Specification Description (TAP/ETAP/MCTAP) .
The
FMCTAP Parameter Assignment
message and
RMCTAP Parameter Assignment
message are both sent to the access terminal to configure the MCTAP (0x000E) when a data connection is established. What attributes are included in these messages and the test set behavior depend on the current
Multi-carrier Test Application Protocol
setting.

---|---|---|---|---|
DRC Value Fixed Mode ( only for subtype 0 and subtype 2 physical layer ) |

DRC Cover Fixed Mode ( only for subtype 0 and subtype 2 physical layer ) |
DRC Cover Fixed Mode attribute is NOT sent. | |||
Loop Back Mode ( only for subtype 0 and subtype 2 physical layer ) |

Ack Channel Modulation Type Fixed Mode ( only for subtype 2 physical layer ) |
Ack Channel Modulation Type Fixed Mode attribute is NOT sent. |

DRC Value Fixed Mode MC ( only for subtype 3 physical layer ) |
|
|||
DRC Cover Fixed Mode MC ( only for subtype 3 physical layer ) | DRCCoverFixedModeMC attribute is NOT sent (DRC Cover Fixed mode is NOT enabled) on each test set. Since there is only one sector in the test set, there is no need to fix the DRC Cover. The DRC Cover for the test set is sent in the Traffic Channel Assignment message. | |||
ACK Channel Bit Fixed Mode MC ( only for subtype 3 physical layer ) |
|
|||
Loop Back Mode MC ( only for subtype 3 physical layer ) | LoopBackMode attribute is sent (Loop Back mode is enabled) . The LoopBackPersistence field for each carrier is set according to Fixed Settings . This means the AT requires to transmit FMCTAP Loop Back Packets on the Reverse Traffic Channel. | LoopBackMode attribute is NOT sent (Loop Back mode is NOT enabled) on each test set. | ||
ACK Channel Modulation Type Fixed Mode MC ( only for subtype 3 physical layer ) |
|
|||
RMCTAP Test Packet Mode Enabled ( only for subtype 3 physical layer ) |
RMCTAPTestPktEnable attribute is NOT sent (RETAP Test Packet mode is NOT enabled) on each test set. |
RMCTAPTestPktEnable attribute is sent (RMCTAP Test Packet mode is enabled) . The RMCTAPTestPktPersistence field for each carrier is set according to Fixed Settings .This indicates that AT is to start sending RMCTAP Test Packets on the reverse traffic channel. | ||
Packet Rate Mode ( only for subtype 0 and subtype 2 physical layer ) |
||||
Packet Payload Size Mode ( only for subtype 2 physical layer ) |
||||
EnhancedAccessChannelRateMode attribute is sent (Enhanced Access Channel Rate Mode is enabled). EnhancedAccessChannelRateIndex field is set according to the Enhanced Access Rate . Valid only for Enhanced Access Channel MAC protocol (see Access Channel MAC Subtype ). |
||||
Burst Period Mode ( only for subtype 2 and subtype 3 physical layer ) |
BurstPeriodMode attribute is NOT sent (Burst Period Mode is NOT enabled). |
BurstPeriodMode attribute is sent (the Configured Burst Period mode is enabled). The LinkFlowID field is set according to the Reverse Data Transmission Mode and the BurstSize field is set to 0xFFFF (see Fixed Settings ). If the Burst Period Mode is sent, then the Burst Size Mode (only for subtype 2 and subtype 3 physical layer) must also be sent. |
||
Burst Size Mode ( only for subtype 2 and subtype 3 physical layer ) |
BurstSizeMode attribute is NOT sent (Burst Size Mode is NOT enabled). |
BurstSizeMode attribute is sent (the Configured Burst Size mode is enabled). The LinkFlowID field is set according to the Reverse Data Transmission Mode and the BurstSize field is set to 0xFFFF (see Fixed Settings ). If the Burst Size Mode is sent, then the Burst Period Mode (only for subtype 2 and subtype 3 physical layer) must also be sent. |
||
Packet Payload Size Mode MC ( only for subtype 3 physical layer ) |
PacketPayloadSizeModeMC attribute is NOT sent (Packet Payload Size Mode is NOT enabled) on each test set. |

Maintain Connection if TAP or Limited TAP setting Changed? | Yes |
The
Multi-carrier Test Application Protocol
setting can be set at any time. Changing this setting when a MCTAP data connection is established will cause the MCTAP to re-negotiate FMCTAP or RMCTAP on the existing traffic channel.
The
Multi-carrier Test Application Protocol
is displayed on the
Call Setup
screen in the
Application Configuration
window when the test set is configured to MCTAP (see
Test Application Configuration
) in the Active Cell operating mode.
