Multi-carrier Test Application Protocol

Multi-carrier Test Application Protocol

Last updated: July 23, 2008

This section is only applicable to the lab application and to a test application with the required feature license.

When the test set is configured to the Multi-carrier Test Application Protocol (MCTAP) (see Test Application Configuration ) and a data connection is established ( Connected State ) in the Active Cell operating mode, the Multi-carrier Test Application Protocol setting determines how the Multi-carrier Test Application Protocol (MCTAP) is configured.

The RMCTAP configures the MCTAP (0x000E) for testing of the AT's transmitter while the FMCTAP configures the MCTAP (0x000E) for testing of the AT's receiver. See C.S0029 Test Application Specification Description (TAP/ETAP/MCTAP) .

The FMCTAP Parameter Assignment message and RMCTAP Parameter Assignment message are both sent to the access terminal to configure the MCTAP (0x000E) when a data connection is established. What attributes are included in these messages and the test set behavior depend on the current Multi-carrier Test Application Protocol setting.

NOTE
For all the following listed attributes that are sent in the FMCTAP Parameter Assignment Message or RMCTAP Parameter Assignment Message, the Main carrier is always included, the Aux carrier 1 is included only if Local Testset Configuration is Main and Carrier State in Aux Carrier 1 Parms is On, the Aux carrier 2 is included only if Local Testset Configuration is Main and Carrier State in Aux Carrier 2 Parms is On. The order of any carriers included in the MCTAP Parameter Assignment Message is defined to be frequency dependent by CS0024-B 1xEV-DO Air Interface Standard.

  • For the Aux carrier 1:

If Ack Chan Bit Fixed Mode Attrib in Aux Carrier 1 Parms is set to on, the ACKChannelModulationTypeFixedModeMC attribute is sent. The ACKChannelModulationType field for the Aux carrier 1 is set according to ACK Channel Modulation Type .

Else the ACKChannelModulationTypeFixedModeMC attribute is NOT sent.

  • For the Aux carrier 2:

If Ack Chan Bit Fixed Mode Attrib in Aux Carrier 2 Parms is set to on, the ACKChannelModulationTypeFixedModeMC attribute is sent. The ACKChannelModulationType field for the Aux carrier 2 is set according to ACK Channel Modulation Type .

Else the ACKChannelModulationTypeFixedModeMC attribute is NOT sent.

RMCTAP Parameter Assignment Message

RMCTAP Test Packet Mode Enabled ( only for subtype 3 physical layer )

RMCTAPTestPktEnable attribute is NOT sent (RETAP Test Packet mode is NOT enabled) on each test set.

RMCTAPTestPktEnable attribute is sent (RMCTAP Test Packet mode is enabled) . The RMCTAPTestPktPersistence field for each carrier is set according to Fixed Settings .This indicates that AT is to start sending RMCTAP Test Packets on the reverse traffic channel.

Packet Rate Mode ( only for subtype 0 and subtype 2 physical layer )

PacketRateMode attribute is NOT sent.

Packet Payload Size Mode ( only for subtype 2 physical layer )

PacketPayloadSizeMode attribute is NOT sent.

Burst Period Mode ( only for subtype 2 and subtype 3 physical layer )

BurstPeriodMode attribute is NOT sent (Burst Period Mode is NOT enabled).

BurstPeriodMode attribute is sent (the Configured Burst Period mode is enabled). The LinkFlowID field is set according to the Reverse Data Transmission Mode and the BurstSize field is set to 0xFFFF (see Fixed Settings ).

If the Burst Period Mode is sent, then the Burst Size Mode (only for subtype 2 and subtype 3 physical layer) must also be sent.

Test Set Configuration

Transmit Forward Test Packets?

Yes
Maintain Connection if TAP or Limited TAP setting Changed? Yes

NOTE
The BurstPeriodMode and BurstSizeMode attributes may also be sent for the nonactive transmission mode with burst period and burst size set to `0' if necessary to turn off the other flow, which means that when Reverse Data Transmission Mode is set to High Capacity, the RMCTAP Parameter message will send two BurstPeriodMode attributes: One for the LinkFlowID associated with Low Latency where the BurstPeriod is set to `0' , the other for LinkFlowID associated with High Capacity and BurstPeriod set to Burst Period (see Fixed Settings ). This is the same with BurstSizeMode attribute.

The Multi-carrier Test Application Protocol setting can be set at any time. Changing this setting when a MCTAP data connection is established will cause the MCTAP to re-negotiate FMCTAP or RMCTAP on the existing traffic channel.

The Multi-carrier Test Application Protocol is displayed on the Call Setup screen in the Application Configuration window when the test set is configured to MCTAP (see Test Application Configuration ) in the Active Cell operating mode.
