4.4.1 Conducted Spurious Emissions

Last updated: July 23, 2008

Definition

Conducted spurious emissions are emissions at frequencies that are outside the assigned CDMA Channel, measured at the access terminal antenna connector. This test measures the spurious emissions during continuous transmission.

Method of Measurement

  1. Set Open Loop Adjust to -81 dB or -84 dB, depending upon band class.
  2. Set Probe Initial Adjust to 15 dB.
  3. Set Power Step to 7.5 dB/step.
  4. Connect the access network emulator to the AT.
  5. Set up a Test Application session. For Subtype 0 or 1 Physical Layer, open an RTAP connection and configure the Reverse Data Channel rate to 153.6 kbps. For Subtype 2 Physical Layer, open an RETAP connection and configure the Reverse Data Channel payload size to 4096 bits with Termination Target of 16 slots.
  6. Configure the Test Application FTAP (for Subtype 0 or 1 Physical Layer) or FETAP (for Subtype 2 Physical Layer) so that the Forward Traffic Channel data rate corresponds to 307.2 kbps (2-slot version), and the ACK Channel is transmitted at all the slots. (It is necessary for the access terminal to transmit the R-ACK Channel to provide its maximum output power.)
  7. Set Î or to -60 dBm/1.23 MHz.
  8. Transmit continuous '0' (up) power control bits.
  9. Measure the spurious emission levels at the specified frequency offsets.
  10. Test 1 (only for subtype 3): Perform the same step as 1-9.
  11. Test 2 (only for subtype 3): If the AT supports Subtype 3 Physical Layer and two or three reverse CDMA channels, perform the following steps 12-16 (Two carriers are required).
  12. Configure the access terminal to transmit on the two carriers at the maximum possible frequency separation (Max Reverse Link Bandwidth reported by the AT) between them.
  13. Set up a Test Application session for Subtype 3 Physical Layer. Configure the Test Application RMCTAP and configure the Reverse Data Channel payload size to 4096 bits with Termination Target of 16 slots. Configure the Test Application FMCTAP (for Subtype 3 Physical Layer) so that the Forward Traffic Channel data rate corresponds to the 2-slot version of 307.2 kbps, and the ACK Channel is transmitted at all the slots.
  14. Set Î or to -85 dBm/1.23 MHz on each test set.
  15. Transmit continuous '0' (up) power control bits.
  16. Measure the spurious emission levels at the specified frequency offsets.
  17. Test 3 (only for subtype 3): If the AT supports Subtype 3 Physical Layer and two or three reverse CDMA channels, perform the following steps 18-22 (Three carriers are required).
  18. configure the access terminal to transmit on all the adjacent reverse CDMA channels at a spacing of 1.23 MHz (for Band Class 0) and 1.25 MHz (for all other Band Classes) between the center frequencies.
  19. Set up a Test Application session for Subtype 3 Physical Layer. Configure the Test Application RMCTAP so that the Reverse Data Channel payload size corresponds to 4096 bits with Termination Target of 16 slots. Configure the Test Application FMCTAP (for Subtype 3 Physical Layer) so that the Forward Traffic Channel data rate corresponds to the 2-slot version of 307.2 kbps, and the ACK Channel is transmitted at all the slots.
  20. Set or Î or to -85 dBm/1.23 MHz for each of the channels.
  21. Send continuously `0' power control bits to the access terminal.
  22. Measure the spurious emission levels (only on the Main unit).
