Data Channel

This section is only applicable to the lab applications.

The Data Channel feature allows you to use the test set as a router while you exchange IP datagrams between the mobile station and remote servers.

Supported Data Channel Services

The test set supports GSM Circuit Switched Data (CSD) and both GPRS and EGPRS Packet Switched Data (PSD).

There are several applications of the Data Channel:

Ping
WAP Test with the Data Channel (link your WAP device to a wml server)
Modem Functional Test with the Data Channel (e.g. to test a wireless modem, connect a PC with an html browser to the modem, and route the data through the test set to an html server)
FTP Throughput Test with the Data Channel (use FTP to transfer data to and from an FTP source)
Base Station Emulation with the Data Channel (use the test set as a router to transfer datagrams from your application to a wireless device)
Data Throughput Monitor (only applicable to the lab applications)
