Antenna Group (LTE)

Antenna Array Shape

The Antenna Array Shapeparameter selects the shape configuration for the set of antennas used for beamforming. The choices are Linear or Rectangular.

Linear Antenna Array Shape

When Linear is selected (default), the antennas are configured in a vertical linear array, and the following traces are available to show the beam pattern and gains applied to PDSCH user allocations:

The Linear antenna array shape selection is compatible with antenna configurations created using VSA versions earlier than version 22.20.

Num Elements: specifies the number of antennas per antenna group. Possible values are in the range 1-8. The total number of antenna groups is the largest number of whole groups.

Antenna groups are formed by starting at measurement channel 1 and collecting measurement channels in increasing channel number until the antenna group is filled. This is repeated until no more complete antenna groups can be formed.

Element Spacing: specifies the distance between the antennas in the linear-shaped antenna group. This parameter is specified in units of wavelengths of the center frequency of the VSA.

Rectangular Antenna Array Shape

When Rectangularis selected, the antennas are configured in a rectangular array, and the following traces are available to show 2D and 3D representations of the beam pattern:

Element Spacing Unit: specifies unit of measure used in the Element Spacing setting when Antenna Array Shape is set to Rectangular.

Hor. Num Elements: specifies the horizontal number of antennas in the rectangular antenna array. Possible values are in the range 1-64, depending on the hardware configuration and the distribution of antennas in the rectangular array.

Element Spacing (Hor.): specifies the horizontal distance between the antennas in the rectangular-shaped antenna group. This parameter is specified in units of Lambda or meters, depending on the Element Spacing Unit setting.

Ver. Num Elements: specifies the number of antennas per antenna group. Possible values are in the range 1-64, depending on the hardware configuration and the distribution of antennas in the rectangular array.

Element Spacing (Ver.): specifies the vertical distance between the antennas in the rectangular-shaped antenna group. This parameter is specified in units of Lambda or meters, depending on the Element Spacing Unit setting.

Enable PCI Separation: enables physical cell ID separation by the method selected using the Cell Beam Separation Method parameter. When enabled (selected),

Cell Beam Separation Method: specifies the model used for PCI/cell beam separation when Enable PCI Separation is enabled (selected).

When PSS or CRS method is selected, the Second Cell ID parameter is enabled to specify the identity of the interference cell. When Spatial Filter is selected, the measured cell beam direction is specified using the Cell Beam Direction Phi (horizontal angle) and Cell Beam Direction Theta (vertical angle) parameters.

Default: PSS

Choices: PSS, CRS, Spatial Filter

Cell Beam Direction Phi: sets the horizontal angle of the measured cell beam direction when Enable PCI Separation is enabled and Cell Beam Separation Method is set to Spatial Filter.

Default: 0

Cell Beam Direction Theta: sets the vertical angle of the measured cell beam direction when Enable PCI Separation is enabled and Cell Beam Separation Method is set to Spatial Filter.

Default: 90

Second Cell ID: sets the Cell ID of second (interference) cell when Enable PCI Separation is enabled and Cell Beam Separation Method is set to PSS or CRS.

Default: 0
