OFDM Burst Info (Custom OFDM)

When Custom OFDM Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing: OFDM employs multiple overlapping radio frequency carriers, each operating at a carefully chosen frequency that is Orthogonal to the others, to produce a transmission scheme that supports higher bit rates due to parallel channel operation. OFDM is an alternative tranmission scheme to DSSS and FHSS. is selected, the OFDM Burst Info trace is a summary table of basic burst information grouped by subcarrier type. Burst information includes EVM Error vector magnitude (EVM): A quality metric in digital communication systems. See the EVM metric in the Error Summary Table topic in each demodulator for more information on how EVM is calculated for that modulation format., Power, modulation format and resource unit information. Resource type = "All" includes all Preamble, Pilot, and Data subcarriers.

Table Header Row - Data Results

Data Results Description
EVM(dB) or
EVM(%)
EVM computed for the specified Resource Type Resurce Type specifies the function of the measurement subcarriers; preamble, pilot, data, All, UserN, Unknown, or Null subcarrier.
For Resource Type = "All", this is the Error Summary Table EVM (dB) result, includes all Preamble, Pilot, and Data subcarriers. The EVM units (dB or %) are specified by the DisplayEVM in Percent property.
Pwr(dB) Total power for the specified Resource Type (in dB).
ModFmt Modulation Format for the specified resource type. ModFmt “***” indicates there is more than one modulation format used by subcarriers in the resource type.
RU RU is an abbreviation for Resource Unit, where one resource unit is a single subcarrier at a single symbol time. The value displayed is the total number of resource units occupied by subcarriers of the specified Resource Type. RU is an abbreviation for Resource Unit, where one resource unit is a single subcarrier at a single symbol time. The value displayed is the total number of resource units occupied by subcarriers of the specified Resource Type.

Table Column 1 - Resource Types

Resource Type Description
Preamble Preamble subcarrier data only.
Pilot Pilot subcarrier data only.
Data Data subcarrier data only.
All All subcarrier data included in the measurement results.
UserN Subcarriers belonging to user N only (where N is 0, 1, 2, …). User resource types are displayed only if there is more than one user specified in the Resource Map array.
Null Null subcarrier data only.
Unknown Subcarriers listed as unspecified in the Resource Map array only. The Unknown resource type is displayed only if there are unspecified subcarriers in the Resource Map array.
