The type of preamble found determines the type of demodulation that is done. However, there are 31 different possible uplink subchannels specified in the 802.16-2004 standard, so the VSA checks for only one of the possible subchannels. The parameter controls which of the subchannels the VSA checks for. The default value is 16, which is a subchannel that uses all 200 subcarriers.
