About Power Spectrum

Power Spectrum Analysis (89601B-SSA/89601200C) configures the Keysight 89600 VSA Software to perform fast spectral measurements.

Technological advances in analog-to-digital converters and digital signal processors combined with FFT Fast Fourier Transform: A mathematical operation performed on a time-domain signal to yield the individual spectral components that constitute the signal. See Spectrum. technology offer the same results as a swept-tuned analyzer but with additional capability. If you have previously used FFT Dynamic Signal Analyzers, you will discover that Power Spectrum measurements let you select spans and resolution bandwidths that have previously been unavailable in FFT analyzers.

Time Domain Input Support

The VSA software has the capability to provide the Power Spectrum measurement to other data sources that do not support stepped spectrum acquisition, including recording playback. In these cases, the power spectrum span is restricted to match the maximum measurement span of a Vector measurement for the same input configuration. This capability allows use of all 89600 VSA compatible data sources (including recording playback) with Power Spectrum measurements that are parameterized in terms familiar to swept-tuned analysis (like Resolution Bandwidth, Video Bandwidth, and Detectors).

Multiband Spectrum Measurement Support

The Power Spectrum, Adjacent Channel Power and Spectral Emissions Mask measurement types provide support for multiple spectrum bands. See Multiband Measurements for more information.
