The Paging IMSI Setup provides a quicker way to page the mobile station if the mobile station's IMSI is known without first being obtained through a power-up registration ( Performing a Registration ).
To access Paging IMSI Setup menu from the front panel, press the
Paging IMSI Setup
(
F4
) key on
Call Control 1 of 3
menu and set the parameters required by the mobile station paging type.
The following paging IMSI parameters are displayed under the Paging IMSI Setup menu when the following two conditions exist:
The Paging IMSI is made up of Paging MNC, Paging MCC, Paging MSIN and Paging Type, which is used to page the mobile when the test set is in the IS-95 or IS-2000 system. Since the MNC and/or MCC are optional, the Paging Type tells the test set how to page the mobile (use MNC and/or MCC or neither).
In addition to the direct setting, the Paging IMSI is also indirectly updated (overwritten) when a new MSIN are reported by the mobile station ( CALL:MS:REPorted<:MCC|:MEID|:MIN1|:MIN2|:MNC|MSIN> ) after a successful registration. Therefore, the value of Paging IMSI is determined by whether a direct user setting of Paging IMSI or a automatic updating based on the reported MSIN happened most recently.
When the Status Request Query is set to 'On', each time a new mobile station registers with the test set, the test set will send
Status Request Messages
to request the mobile station to report its band classes, the operating mode for each band class, the max EIRP (if the operating mode is CDMA) for each band class, as well as the power control information. The test set then displays these information on the
MS Operating Mode
,
Band Class
,
Max EIRP
and
Power Control Step
fields on the
Mobile Reported Information
screen. The test set does not request the mobile station to report these information when the Status Request Query is set to 'Off'. This reduces the mobile station registration time.
Note that the test set sends the
Status Request Message
to an MEID-equipped mobile station for its MEID value no matter what the
Status Request Query
state is when the
MEID Support
is On.
GPIB Command: CALL:MS:REPorted:REQuest[:ENAble]
The test set needs to know the maximum EIRP (effective isotropic radiated power) of the mobile station to perform receiver ranging properly. When the Status Request Query state is set to Off and the MS Database is cleared, then the default Max EIRP setting ( CALL:MS:REPorted:EIRPower:DEFault ) will be used for connections in any band class.
