PESQ
is a objective method to test the speech quality
of the mobile station. With a voice service and
the AMR Source
set to PESQ
, the test set supports the PESQ measurement with
three measurement modes: Uplink Audio, Downlink
Audio and Both. When a single measurement is done,
a PESQ score ranging from -0.5 (bad) to 4.5 (Excellent)
is given to rate the speech quality. The related
headroom is also displayed.
For trouble shooting, see Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality Measurement Troubleshooting .

The only change in this release of the E1968A is that the Phase and Amplitude versus Time Measurement now automatically calibrates the phase and amplitude results. The measurement speed is now much quicker with the new, on-the-fly calibration, which is performed automatically when you run this measurement for Discrete and Continuous waveforms. See Phase and Amplitude versus Time Measurement Description for more details.
The content of this guide includes information for the E.00.08 Subscription Release (E6701E) - March 2006 . The E6701E contains new features and parameters. Some parameters that exist in the E1968A have changed locations in the E6701E and therefore it is recommended that you use the CHM Help File that is specific to your application for front panel access information.

This release also couples the Band Indicator parameter to the BCH Cell Band setting. That is, if the BCH Cell Band is changed to DCS or PCS, the Band Indicator is updated to match the BCH Cell Band setting. For more information, see CALL:BINDicator .
This release adds the Tail Bit Demodulation parameter that allows you to control how the test set demodulates the tail bits during a Phase and Frequency Error measurement. The command to set this parameter is SETup:PFERror:TBDemod .
The ORFS measurement meets improved Keysight product specifications when using the digital measurement filter (Filter Type set to Digital or Auto), but only for E5515C test sets with serial number > GB46040000 and E5515B test sets with serial number > GB46050000. Upgraded E5515s may also meet specifications. Contact your Keysight Sales Representative for more information.

This firmware release adds the T-GSM810 frequency band as well as provides support for the Phase and Amplitude versus Time measurement and the digital measurement filter type setting for the ORFS measurement.
All
frequency banded test set parameters now support the
T-GSM810 frequency band. You can now select the T-GSM810
frequency band on the test set's front panel in any
menu that contains the frequency bands. The GPIB commands
are also updated to include the T-GSM810 frequency
band in all of the Frequency Banded
Parameters . The GPIB command mnemonic for the
T-GSM810 band is TGSM810
. The ARFCN range of the T-GSM810 band is 350 to 425.
The Phase and Amplitude measurement provides a way to characterize the phase and magnitude error introduced by the non-linearity of power amplifiers operating over a wide dynamic range. For more information see the Phase and Amplitude versus Time Measurement Description .
The ORFS measurement now gives you the option to choose between an analog or digital measurement filter type. You can set Filter Type to Analog , Digital , or Auto. When filter type is set to Auto mode, the measurement uses the digital measurement filter if your test setÃs hardware supports it. However, the ORFS measurement is not specified when using the digital measurement filter. See Output RF Spectrum Measurement Description .

This initial release combines the existing E1960A GSM Mobile Test Application version A.10.20 and the E1964A GPRS Mobile Test Application version A.04.20 into one GSM/GPRS Mobile Test Application (E1968A).
The E1968A is an integrated GSM/GPRS TA which replaces the E1960A GSM TA and the E1964A GPRS TA. There is no need for the E1985A/B to enable fast switching between GSM and GPRS as was required with the old E1960A and E1964A test applications. The E1968A contains both GSM and GPRS components and allows access to both components without the need to perform an explicit format switch (providing each component is licensed). If the E1968A has a GSM license, GSM calls are supported; if a GPRS license is present, GPRS data connections are supported; if both licenses are present, there is access to all capabilities. An added benefit of the integrated GSM and GPRS in the E1968A GSM/GPRS Mobile Test Application is there is no loss of BCH when going from GSM to GPRS testing or vice-versa; this allows the mobile to stay camped/attached.
Hardware compatibility - see Hardware Requirements above
Prior single-partition (E1960A and E1964A) and fast switching (E1985A/B) will not run on future test sets
Technologies must be licensed within the E1968A to gain their functionality
Compatibility of GPIB commands from E1960A/E1964A to E1968A is maintained where possible however, some GPIB changes were required as well as the added improvements to test features in the E1968A
Overlapped commands in the E1968A are not equivalent to those in the E1960A/E1964A. In many E1968A commands they are no longer needed and will only slow the test run when running old overlapped GPIB command code on the E1968A. This has been improved in the E1968A by new commands/methods for channel reconfiguration which possibly produce a reduction in test times.
All future GSM, GPRS and EGPRS (EDGE) test applications and lab applications will be based on this format. Follow-on versions of the E1968A will incorporate new features but the E1960A GSM and E1964A GPRS Mobile Test Applications will not be updated.
The new GSM, GPRS and EGPRS (EDGE) format applications have a new firmware architecture that improves application performance.
The new E1968A combined format provides the potential for a reduction in test times.
The new E1968A combined format provides improvements to measurements and measurement features.
Using the E1968A will not require a format switch for GSM, GPRS, and EGPRS (EDGE) testing because all of these formats are integrated in the E1968A.
IQ Tuning and Dynamic Power measurements are now available in GPRS. See SETup:IQTuning and SETup:DPOWer .
PFER CIFT functionality
Expected Burst Type RACH supported in test mode.
